Soaking up the sun

We had a good weekend and another Monday off. Daphne did some pool time in the backyard and made a few trips to the park. She got a clean bill of health on her ear check up today and the lady that did her speech evaluation said she is doing great. Below is a snack break during pool time.

Work and School Tuesday

Lately every night when I pick up the toys strewn about on the floor I set up a little scene at Daphne's favorite table and chair. The picture below is baby and smurf enjoying a good book and milk before bed. She loves it in the morning. And below is a bonus picture of her eating breakfast while I read her Cinderella, in the little chair of course.

Monday Off

Late to post today, I have today off and have to work this Friday so we are enjoying the day.

Treat

Here is picture of Daphne helping me celebrate my recent promotion with a fresh fruit tart (from our new grocery store, although I wish it was made by me!). She went right for the giant strawberry in the middle.

Books

Books are one of Daphne's favorite things in the world right now. She could have us read a million a day to her if she had her wish. Bedtime involves almost that many read by dad before she drifts off to sleep.

My first sucker...

Daphne had a good weekend. We started it off by going out to dinner at El Camino's, one of her favorites, on Friday night. She filled her belly with rice, beans, steak and a bonus dish of fried ice cream because it was so hot out. Then on the way out the hostess gave her a sucker, so I let her try it. These pictures are a series of the short life of the Cherry sucker once we got home. It has finally cooled off so we are going the first night without air conditioning in over a week!

My window...

We had a good night here, ended up going to Chicken and All That Jazz, which is a picnic at the local college where they have a chicken dinner and jazz music outside. It was yummy food (chicken, corn, bread, applesauce and coleslaw) followed by a chocolate brownie sundae. It was definitely hot and humid but nice to get out of the house and not have to cook dinner. Today's pictures are Daphne sitting at her favorite window to look out of, playing with her window sticky fruits.

Sweltering Wednesday

We are having a good week, nothing too exciting to report. We are patiently waiting for the heat and humidity to break and our house to cool down from the average of 84 degrees we seem to have been at for a week now. Looks like we have no hope until Monday. Here's Daphne with her favorite sneakers!

New Skills & Fun Fridays

Daphne has had all kinds of new words lately, she is chatting up a storm. Here are some that are new and some she is using more: Zeus, Meeeeooow, More, Cookie (for Cookie Monster), Big Bird, Car, Cracker, MaMA (yes she emphasizes the last MA), Dada, and Ball. Those are just a few of her favorites, on top of the usual animal noises and other baby chatter, granted most of them don't come out sounding exactly like that. The pictures below are Daphne having a blast on Friday with her new toy, a bag of colorful craft cotton balls from Hobby Lobby. I like the second picture where you can see the sheer excitement. She was in the process of tossing them all over the living room, I don't know who was more excited, her or Oscar chasing them.

We're back...

Last week Daphne and I spent most of the week recovering from whatever she caught from school which meant a lot of sleeping between school and getting ready for school so we didn't get to post much last week. The good news is we are feeling much better. The bad news is it is so hot here it's hard to function. We will hopefully have new pictures and stories this week. Hope you have a good Monday! Sporley Lake

Here are some more pictures from out trip home and visit at Sporley. It was a lot of fun and Daphne had a great time in the lake and visiting Grandma and Grandpa. Our weekend was pretty good, the highlight being our near by grocery store having the grand opening on Saturday. They tore down the old one and rebuilt a new one in 6 months, and it turned out amazing! We are so happy not to have to drive all over town to get groceries now. Daphne was a bit under the weather this weekend with a fever on Saturday but she seems to have taken a turn for the better today so we will see how tomorrow is.
